2019 SNOW CRAB SEASON OPENING FOR Offshore 3K
DFO advises that the Snow Crab fishery will open at 6:00 a.m. Thursday, April 11, 2019 for Area 4 in NAFO Division 3K.
Fish harvesters are reminded that they are not authorized to set Crab traps until 72 hours after the Snow Crab fishery season has opened for their licensed crab fishing area. Therefore, any setting of Crab traps or possession of Crab before 6:00AM on Sunday, April 14 is prohibited.
This is in accordance with section 52 of the Atlantic Fisheries Regulations where vessels are not authorized to leave port with crab traps onboard before the start of the season.
Licence fees and licence conditions are available through the National Online Licencing System (NOLS).
The Regional Director General, Fisheries and Oceans Canada, Newfoundland and Labrador Region gives notice that Variation Order 2019-027 has been revoked and Variation Order 2019-030 comes into effect on April 10, 2019.
