2019 SNOW CRAB SEASON OPENING IN CRAB FISHING AREA (CFA) 3A, 3BC, 3D IN NAFO DIVISION 3K

 DFO advises that the Snow Crab fishery will open at 12:00 a.m. (midnight) on Sunday April 14, 2019 for the purpose of travelling to the fishing ground in the following areas in NAFO Division 3K:

  - Inshore Crab Fishing Areas 3A

  - Inshore Crab Fishing Areas in 3BC 

  - Inshore Crab Fishing Areas in 3D

Fish harvesters are reminded that they are not authorized to set Crab traps until 6 hours after  the Snow Crab fishery season has opened. Therefore, any setting of Crab traps or possession of Crab before 6:00AM on Sunday, April 14 is prohibited. 

This is in accordance with section 52 of the Atlantic Fisheries Regulations where vessels are not authorized to leave port with crab traps onboard before the start of the season.

Licence fees and licence conditions are available through the National Online Licencing System (NOLS).

The Regional Director General, Fisheries and Oceans Canada, Newfoundland and Labrador Region gives notice that Variation Order 2019-030 has been revoked and Variation Order 2019-031 comes into effect on April 12, 2019.
