3Ps Scallop Fishery Opening in SFA 10 and 11
DFO advises that the 3Ps commercial Scallop fishery in Scallop Fishing Areas 10 (Placentia Bay) and SFA 11 (Fortune Bay) is now open.
Fish harvesters are reminded that fishing is not permitted in the middle bed, southern bed, the Core Area and the area south of the Core Area to 46 degrees 12 minutes North latitude. These areas are defined in your licence conditions.
DFO advises licence holders that fishing licences for 2019 are not yet available and those who wish to fish during the first weeks of January, 2019 must first have their 2018 fishing licences manually amended by a DFO Fishery Officer or a Licensing Officer to extend their licence into 2019. Fish harvesters are advised to present their 2018 licence to any Fishery Officer or any Licensing Officer before the start of any fishing trip in 2019 and they will amend the licence end date. This will allow harvesters to continue fishing while they are awaiting their 2019 licence through the National Online Licensing System (NOLS).
The Regional Director General, Fisheries and Oceans Canada, Newfoundland and Labrador Region gives notice that Variation Order 2018-390 has been revoked and Variation Order 2019-002 comes into effect on January 11, 2019.
