4R ATLANTIC HALIBUT - FIRST SEASONAL OPENING DATE
DFO advises that the Atlantic Halibut hook and line (long line) fishery in NAFO Division 4RST, for fixed gear vessels less than 65 feet based in Western NL and Southern Labrador that elected to fish in period 1, will open at 0600 hours on Monday, June 24, 2019. This fishery is open for vessel class A288 and will close at 2000 hours on July 7, 2019.
*Buddy-up arrangements must be approved through DFO prior to fishing.
**The quota reconciliation process utilized in this fishery is intended to deal with minor overruns in harvest caps. Notwithstanding, overruns may be subject to further enforcement action.
The Regional Director General, Fisheries and Oceans Canada, Newfoundland and Labrador Region gives notice that Variation Order 2019-098 has been revoked and Variation Order 2019-104 comes into effect on June 20, 2019.
