Soft-Shell Closed Area for Crab in NAFO Division 3K
DFO advises that in accordance with the soft-shell protocol, the following grid quadrants in Crab Fishing Area 3BC in NAFO Division 3K will close to fishing Snow crab at midnight on Thursday, June 20, 2019 due to a high incidence of soft-shell crab:
Grid quadrants AD 36-B and AD 36-D
These grid quadrants will be closed to Snow crab fishing for the remainder of the year. Harvesters should note that all gear in this grid must be removed immediately. Gear must be hauled and not reset on your next fishing trip.
Grid quadrant AD 36-B is defined as the area bounded by the following coordinates:
50° 30' North, 54° 20' West;
50° 25' North, 54° 20' West;
50° 25' North, 54° 25' West;
50° 30' North, 54° 25' West; and,
50° 30' North, 54° 20' West.
Grid quadrant AD 36-D is defined as the area bounded by the following coordinates:
50° 25' North, 54° 20' West;
50° 20' North, 54° 20' West;
50° 20' North, 54° 25' West;
50° 25' North, 54° 25' West; and,
50° 25' North, 54° 20' West.
The Regional Director General, Fisheries and Oceans Canada, Newfoundland and Labrador Region gives notice that Variation Order 2019-103 has been revoked and Variation Order 2019-105 comes into effect on June 20, 2019.
