Soft-Shell Closed Area for Crab in NAFO Division 3K

DFO advises that in accordance with the soft-shell protocol, the following grid quadrant in Crab Fishing Area 3D in NAFO Division 3K will close to fishing Snow crab at midnight on Friday, June 28, 2019 due to a high incidence of soft-shell crab:

Grid quadrant AK 45-A

This grid quadrant will be closed to Snow crab fishing for the remainder of the year. Harvesters should note that all gear in these grids must be removed immediately. Gear must be hauled and not reset on your next fishing trip.

Grid quadrant AK 45-A is defined as the area bounded by the following coordinates:

49° 20' North, 52° 55' West;

49° 15' North, 52° 55' West;

49° 15' North, 53° 00' West;

49° 20' North, 53° 00' West; and,

49° 20' North, 52° 55' West;

The Regional Director General, Fisheries and Oceans Canada, Newfoundland and Labrador Region gives notice that Variation Order 2019-111 has been revoked and Variation Order 2019-117 comes into effect on June 28, 2019.
